LifeStraw was born as an effort to eradicate Guinea worm disease in partnership with The Carter Centre. For 10 years, LifeStraw continued to work on Guinea worm eradication, tackled humanitarian crises and responded to waterborne disease outbreaks before becoming a retail company.

LifeStraw membrane filters use hollow fibre technology (similar to that used in  kidney dialysis) with microscopic 0.2 micron pores - dirty water enters one side and clean water passes through the pores, contaminates are blocked. 

LifeStraw microfilters remove 99.999999% of bacteria, 99.999% of parasites & 99.999% of microplastics.

In addition, the ultrafilter with a pore size of 0.02 microns also removes 99.999% of viruses.

To maintain their high performance standards, all performance claims are validated using accredited independent laboratory testing and all LifeStraw products go through both internal and external testing before reaching the market.
